FINAL HOURS: CHECKLIST & WHAT COMES NEXT

Hello Hunters!

Welcome to the final hours of this campaign. What an amazing ride this project has been! These past 28 days have been fantastic, starting with a massive first day and continuing that enthusiasm and excitement right up until the end. We gained backers and support throughout every step of the campaign, and community we've built has been awesome.

As I prepare to post this, we are just about EIGHT hours from the end of this campaign, and approaching an amazing finish!

Great job, everyone!

We've had a bunch of new backers join in over the past few days (hi, new backers!), and many backers adding on to their rewards or changing their reward levels. I wanted to  review the overall method to ensure you've set up your rewards, and then talk about what comes next.

1. REWARD TIER, ADD-ONs, PLEDGE TOTAL

Please ensure you've selected the Reward Tier that best represents your desired rewards for this project. An update breaking down all of the Reward Tier decisions is HERE <link>, summarized by this chart:

Once you're sure you've selected the correct Reward Tier, double-check to see if there are any rewards that you want to include via ADD-ON, as described in the update HERE <link>.

Your REWARD TIER determines what your base rewards are - you must select a Reward Tier to receive those rewards. Again, your reward list is based on your Reward Tier, not your total pledge amount.

Your PLEDGE TOTAL is the sum of your REWARD TIER + SHIPPING + ADD-ONs.

Shipping is calculated automatically by Kickstarter, based on your location. Add On rewards will be selected in the post-campaign pledge manager sent out once payment processing is complete.

SO: Ensure that you've selected the Reward Tier you want, and included funding for any Add Ons you wish to include. AND - make sure that you are comfortable with the Pledge Total amount, in terms of it covering everything you want and its' affordability.

And remember - any physical reward Add On (additional copies of the book or the Storyteller Screen) can only be added to reward tiers that include the hardcover book (Tier-Three Hunter reward tier and higher).

AGAIN: Review your pledge amount and make sure it is affordable for your circumstances. Remember, you are pledging this amount to fund the creation of the Hunter: The Vigil Second Edition PDF + hardcover book. As a thank you, you'll be receiving the rewards listed for your chosen Reward Tier on the Reward Tier chart, plus any that were added via Stretch Goal. We've come a long way on this journey, but there's still a long (and exciting!) road ahead of us, so this is the last chance to turn back before we press on!

2. PAYMENT AND CONTACT INFORMATION

Once you're comfortable with your pledge, please ensure that the payment and contact information in your kickstarter account is up to date and correct. Making sure your e-mail is entered correctly and your credit card isn't expired will speed up the next step process. (I have learned from experience!)

WHAT COMES NEXT?

3. AFTER THE CAMPAIGN ENDS

First, we celebrate. Kickstarter will send out a "Hooray!" email confirming the campaign ended with final totals. We'll give high fives and fist bumps in the comments section.

Then, the Kickstarter payment process begins. Over the next week, kickstarter will begin charging your payment methods for the total amount you've pledged.

If there is an issue with your payment method (expired credit card or incorrect number or pre-paid Visa awaiting funds, for example), Kickstarter will keep trying to process payment during this time.

Once this step is done, which will likely be mid-March, Kickstarter will confirm everything with Onyx Path and transfer the funds over to them (less the Kickstarter fees, of course!).

Once the payment is confirmed, I can begin to set up the project with BackerKit and link it to the Kickstarter data.

BackerKit is a robust fulfillment integration and pledge management program that will allow us to work with all of the data and distribute the rewards to you. It will take me a few weeks to set the project up. Once I've got it all entered and built, the team from BackerKit will review to ensure I didn't mess anything up too badly, and then I'll make any changes they've suggested and we can move on to the Survey stage.

4. BACKERKIT SURVEYS

Once BackerKit says I'm good to go, I will send out a survey to all backers. This is why confirming your e-mail is important!

The BackerKit survey is both a verb and a noun - it will collect data for the analysis of some aspect of a group (enabling Onyx Path to set print runs, prioritize new projects, and fine-tune future kickstarters), as well as providing a general review or summary of the reward tier you've chosen, confirm all of the rewards associated with that reward tier, and confirm your total pledge amount.

I expect Surveys to go out by early April. If you opted to include any Add-On rewards to your pledge, this is the point where you will select them. BackerKit will deduct the cost of your reward tier (+shipping) from your total pledge and show you how much you have to allocate for add-on purchases. You simply select the ones you want and proceed. From that point forward, those add-ons will be included in your list of rewards.

During the Survey period, you can also also choose to increase your reward tier. If you've managed to hit the lottery and decide it's time to trade up to get two copies of the book or include another add-on, you can do so at this time. Note, you will not be able to reduce your reward tier selection, only increase.

If there was an issue with payment to Kickstarter, you should also be able to address that at this point in the process.

The survey will ask you to confirm your shipping address, even though it'll be some time before we ship out the final product. Do not worry about moving before shipping begins - you will be able to update BackerKit right up until the point that we begin fulfilling the final book. We will send out a notice prior to lock down so you can update any information.

I'll also use the Survey to confirm some details for the limited and premium reward tiers.

5. REWARD DISTRIBUTION

This is a long process, but I will send out regular updates (usually at the end of the month) to keep you up to speed on our progress. There will be strings of updates that are just "still working on it," but I will share new artwork or information when I can.

Eventually, we will have a completed PDF of Hunter: The Vigil Second Edition. We'll take some time to distribute, review, and compile any errata or corrections that need to be made. When we've made any necessary changes, we'll send out updated copy of the PDFs and then begin creating print-ready files for the Print-on-Demand and hardcover version.

It's yet another long process ahead, but one that we wouldn't be on if not for your faith vigilance and support.

Final Days: Stretch Goals

As I'm typing this, we're coming up on our FINAL 48 HOURS for this Hunter: The Vigil Second Edition kickstarter project.  As we zoom toward the finish line, this is our last opportunity to add backers and pledges and possibly unlock our final Stretch Goal achievements. And, with that, today's topic will cover Stretch Goals!

Refresher Course

We've had, and will have, a lot of new backers join in during these last days. I want to take a moment to highlight some key Update posts that new backers may want to check out (and existing backers may want to read as a refresher!).

MANUSCRIPT PREVIEW - We've got one final section of the Manuscript to go, but the rest is now available for review. If you're a backer, you'll have access to this preview manuscript after the campaign. Remember, though, there are still some minor edits, development and proofing that need to be done. But, you can consider this about 96.8% finished.

February 29 update - REWARD TIERS - your best starting point for figuring out which Backer Reward Level to choose to help support this project.

March 1 update - ADD ON REWARDS - the important companion piece to the Reward Tiers topic, including information on how to increase your pledge amount to add PDF bundles for all of the first edition products from Hunter: The Vigil, as well as an opportunity to fill in your digital Chronicles of Darkness core book library.

If you've been looking at the Premium Reward Tiers - the expensive ones that offer a bit more interaction with the setting, system, and design team - there's always some churn near the end so some rewards that were completely claimed may become available again before the end.

Choosing the correct Reward Tier for your desired rewards, and then filling in any "gaps" with add-ons, ensures that you'll be claiming all of your desired rewards as a thank you for supporting this project and bringing this world to life.

Remember, your TOTAL PLEDGE AMOUNT is equal to your REWARD TIER + SHIPPING + ADD ONS. And we will confirm your Add On selection with our post-campaign pledge manager, Backerkit, a few weeks after the campaign ends.

On Thursday, I'll be posting one further "Final Day" update, covering What Happens Next and outlining what to expect once the campaign ends.

But until then, we're going to hopefully complete a final Stretch Goal hunt (or two!) as we race through our final days of the campaign!

 STRETCH GOAL ACCOMPLISHMENTS

Over the course of the campaign, we've achieved 9 Stretch Goals!  We're doing so well as we rush toward the finish line! And there's a solid chance to make that a terrific 10 (or unbelievable 11 even!) before we end...

REWARDS, OPPORTUNITIES, CELEBRATIONS

Thanks to the success of the campaign, we've been able to unlock a series of Add On opportunities (eventually making all of the 1E Hunter titles available at an incredible discount!), some great opportunities to spread the Hunter: The Vigil love (a T-shirt, a desktop wallpaper), and new content in the form of a Storyteller Screen and an expanding Player's Companion called Tending the Flame!

NEXT STRETCH GOALS

After we've added support for Tier One and Tier Two play with the Player's Companion, there's really only one place to go... support for Conspiracies and new Endowments!!

AT $92,000 in funding - Tending the Flame: Conspiracies — Help us fund a third chapter for the Player’s Companion for Hunter: The Vigil Second Edition. This chapter on Conspiracies would offer eight expanded conspiracy write-ups with hints of their long-term plans and goal, as well as their Endowments.

And after that, let's build something that will allow player's to jump right in to a game of Hunter: The Vigil. Should we somehow exceed our current Stretch Goal before the end of the campaign, let's add one more target to strive for:

I know these numbers may seem daunting, but they wouldn't be STRETCH goals if we didn't have to really STRETCH to reach them!

So, as every update concludes: let's keep the enthusiasm rolling! Keep spreading the word and letting others know about this project. They've got just over 48 hours to jump in and share the 9 (can we make it 10? 11!! ) Stretch Goals we've achieved!

Final Week: Add On Rewards

Hola, Hunters!

We're in the final week countdown of this Hunter: The Vigil Second Edition kickstarter project-  it ends on Thursday, March 5th at 2:00 PM EST - there's still time to recruit additional backers, but we're definitely getting closer to the finish line. With that in mind, I wanted to touch on some of the basics over the next 5 days to make sure that everyone has all of the information they need to support the project in the way that works best for them.

Whether you're just forming a small cell or part of a larger conspiracy, these are good items to review to make sure that we all end up where we want to be.

It should be noted that this campaign has attracted some new-to-Kickstarter backers! Welcome, everyone! They say having 5% of new-to-kickstarter backers is a sign that your campaign has wide interest and is a great pull, and our metrics show that we're right on that target! So, welcome new backers! I hope you've enjoyed this Kickstarter ride!

Today, I am going to talk about ADD ON reward options. On Tuesday, I'll share our Stretch Goal accomplishments and reward review, and on Thursday, before the campaign finishes I will post an update with a Final Checklist & What Comes Next.

First Step: Reward Tier

The absolute best way to ensure that you're getting all of the available rewards you want from this kickstarter is to ensure you've selected the appropriate Backer Reward Tier, as detailed in our Reward Tier Update. Selecting the right Reward Tier covers about 95% of the options available to you. If you want the PDF only, make sure you've selected the correct reward. If you want the hardcover version, double-check your reward tier to ensure it's featured. If your going digital now but want the option of getting a discounted Print-on-Demand copy later, make sure you've got a reward tier that includes it. 

Once you've completed that important step, you're going to want to look at the Add On rewards for any reward "bits" that don't automatically fall into your reward tier. That takes us to the Add On step.

Step Two: Add-Ons.

If you've selected one of the "core" Reward Tiers, you've likely already included most of the rewards you want. In addition to the rewards offered as part of the Reward Tier configurations, there are a few other possible rewards you may wish to add. All Add-On rewards will be described below.

Each add on includes an extra amount to add on to your total pledge amount. Remember that your total pledge amount includes all shipping charges and not just your reward tier level.

Using myself as an example, my TIER-ONE HUNTER Reward Tier is a $25 pledge, and since I'm just going digital with no shipping and have no extra Add On rewards, my total pledge amount is also $25.

First off, can you believe I was only Backer #2?! I've gotta get quicker fingers! Also - 100% power. Nice!

I can scroll down or read the kickstarter rewards page to review the list of rewards with my Tier. After seeing the manuscript previews and the artwork that's been shared so far, I think this is a book that will be referenced a bunch and could be passed around my gaming table fairly frequently, so I decide that I want to upgrade my pledge to include the hardcover book as a reward. 

Going over the Reward Tier Chart, I see that the TIER-THREE HUNTER reward tier offers both the PDF and Hardcover version of Hunter: The Vigil Second Edition, so that's what I'd like instead.

So, it's time to CHANGE MY PLEDGE. In the iOs app, you can do that by selected the three little dots in the top left corner, or selected MANAGE MY PLEDGE in the desktop version.

And when I Choose another reward, I pick TIER-THREE HUNTER...

Once I've selected this reward, it displays the Total Pledge Amount before confirming.

So, my Total includes my Pledge Amount for my reward tier (the minimum is $50 that covers the TIER-THREE HUNTER reward) plus shipping to Canada.

Before I hit confirm, though, I remember there are more rewards I was interested in. You can also get to this point by just choosing to Update Pledge (rather than Choose Another Reward) in the Manage Pledge options.

I'm likely to be the Storyteller for my group for this game, so figure I'd better get some more Hunter ammunition. First off, I want to add the Storyteller Screen, which is an Add On that we unlocked with our very first Stretch Goal.

Looking at the list of Add On Rewards on the main page, I see that the Storyteller Screen is a +$20 Add On, so I'll have to increase my pledge by +$20.

But, I've also heard so many great things about the first edition of Hunter, and I figure the PDFs from an earlier edition can serve as awesome inspiration for my own new chronicle. Looking at each of the selections, I think I'm going to add

• The Cheiron Group's Database [9 PDF Bundle] for +$20
• The Ascending Ones' Archive [3 PDF Bundle] for +$3
• The Mallelus Maleficarum's Scrolls [3 PDF Bundle] for +$3
• The Records of the Lucifuge [3 PDF Bundle] for +$3

That brings my total Add On amount to $20 + $20 + $3 + $3 + $3 = +$52.

Just riding along with this campaign and hearing the stories and passion of existing fans, I am all in on this game. 

So, I update my Pledge by +$52 to my new total:

I change the pledge amount to include my Add Ons. My new Total Pledge Amount is now $147:

•  $55 for the TIER-THREE HUNTER Reward Tier (which includes the hardcover book) 
•  +$20 for the Storyteller Screen Add On Reward
•  +$20 for The Cheiron Group's Database 9 PDF Bundle

Once I've done that, I click Confirm (or Updated Pledge or Continue, depending on your browser and interface).

A note for non-U.S. Residents (like me) - all currency show is in US Dollars, so be aware of exchange rates when planning your purchase.

It's important to note that there is NO PLACE in your kickstarter reward tier pledge to indicate which add-ons you wish to include, or give any reason why you are adjusting your pledge to a new amount. You aren't adding items to a shopping cart in this scenario - instead, you're adding pledge dollars that you will assign once the campaign ends. With this in mind, you may want to make a note of which add-on items and the associated add-on dollar amounts you've included if you're forgetful like I am.

Once the campaign ends and Kickstarter processes the payments, I will send out a survey via Backerkit - a complex system of tools used to manage the back-end of the kickstarter fulfillment process. When you receive the survey, you will confirm your Backer Reward Tier and assign your pledged dollars to any add-on items that you wish to include. I'll repeat and expand on this information in an upcoming post about "What Happens Next?" in Thursday's update.

REWARD DELIVERY

With the exception of Hunter: The Vigil Second Edition and Storyteller Screen, all of the Add On items are currently available in PDF form (or very near release, for Geist: The Sin-Eaters.) About a month after the campaign has ended, I'll launch our post-campaign Pledge Manager to collect information from all backers and confirm which rewards you'll be receiving. At this point, you'll also confirm which Add On Rewards you've paid for. Once we have that information, I'll be sending special redemption links to claim your digital rewards from our partners at DriveThruRPG.com. Clicking these redemption links will allow you to add these PDF titles to your digital library to download anytime.

So, while it will take some time still for Hunter: The Vigil Second Editionto move from it's manuscript form to a final product, you won't be waiting a year for PDFs that already exist. (You'll be waiting about 6 weeks or so, just enough time for us to set up the reward infrastructure.)

Physical Books

It's going to take some time to create the PDF for Hunter: The Vigil Second Edition and even longer for the eventual print run. When the book is at the printer, I will be in touch with all kickstarter backers and go over lockdown procedures and confirming addresses one final time.

Don't fret if you had forgotten to increase your pledge amount to cover an Add On by the end of the campaign. These Add Ons will be available to select in our post-campaign Pledge Manager. So, if you are undecided at this time, you will be able to hold off until we're closer to the final reward shipment goes out.

I know that I'll be looking for another of the 1E PDF Bundles to add on, so if I forget before the end of the campaign, I can add it in our Pledge Manager.

Add Ons AFTER Reward Tiers

Again, your first step should always be choosing the proper reward tier. I've had a few backers ask about adding a second hardcover copy to their TIER-THREE HUNTER reward tier. You are much better off selecting the Multiple Copy Reward tier if you want an additional copy (VIGIL COMPACT).

It probably goes without saying that all funds are expressed in US Dollars, although Kickstarter displays the approximate conversion rate.

It Adds Up!
